Starting with the 2008-2009 School Year, students enrolling in Pre-K must be 4-years of age on or before August 31, 2008. Then, beginning in the 2009-2010 School Year, students enrolling in Kindergarten must also use the August 31st cut-off date by enrolling at 5-years-old on or before August 31st, 2009.

Acceptance to the Pre-K program is not considered on a “first come first serve” basis.  Children will be accepted into the program based on the following criteria:

  • MUST reside in the school’s attendance zone.
  • MUST be four years old on or before August 31, 2008.
  • MUST have an up-to-date record of immunizations (shots).
  • MUST have a commitment by family to attend parent meetings and to provide the child with enriching activities at home.
  • MUST meet the screening qualifications. ALL children registering will be screened.  The screening will briefly assess the child’s developmental skills.
  •

You MUST bring the following items when you come to fill out an application form:

  • Child’s Social Security Card
  • Child’s Official Birth Certificate for proof of age (must have seal)
  • Child’s Shot Record (must be up-to-date)
  • Proof of Residence within the school attendance zone of the school at which you are registering (examples of proof of residence are recent electric bill, phone bill, etc. Only original bills will be accepted; no copies.)
  • Verification of Income – 2007 W-2 forms or 2007 income tax documents (i.e. 1040 form or 1040 EZ form); no paycheck stubs will be accepted

Please be aware that an application for the Pre-K program will NOT be processed without all five of the above items. For more information, please contact the Parent Resource Center at 338-1194.
