In reading we are planning to participate in “Battle of the Books” as well as the “AR Race to 100”. This month the featured novels are Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Stone Fox. Please look for more information about the activities connected to these novels studies. Also, your child’s Reading Log been sent home for the week. I am asking that you check it, sign it, and send it back on Fridays. Study Island is being used again this year to help students become better test takers and more proficient in the areas of Reading, Math, and Science. REMINDER: Encourage your child to read every night for at least 20 min.
Science News Students are learning the “Scientific Method”. We are working on a Science Fair Project called “Which corn popper is the most efficient?” Along with studying the Scientific Method, we will be working on animal behavior and adaptation.
Social Studies The focus of fourth grade Social Studies is North Carolina! This year your child will delve into the fascinating history, culture, and lifestyles of North Carolina. We are planning many interesting projects this year. The first project is a “Region Brochure”. More information will be sent home about this project soon. Also, this year we have new Social Studies textbooks. I have asked the children to cover their book with a paper bag to help protect it.
