The first-graders are off and running. They have taken the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills); some have taken Accelerated Reader quizzes. The team took a field trip to the College of the Albemarle to see a fire safety program. The students thoroughly enjoyed the program. They received flashlights and were told what to do in case of a fire. The students are identifying geometric shapes; this is a good way to ask what your students are learning in school. The first-graders will be studying Columbus Day soon, and they will learn about pumpkins.
