Pre-K Registration

Seven elementary schools in the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School District are registering new students for Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) classes during the week of April 16 through April 20, 2007. Participation is based on survey results and need. Applications for the 2007-2008 Pre-K Program will be accepted at specific schools from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on the following days:

Northside Elementary – Monday, April 16

Central Elementary & Pasquotank Elementary – Tuesday, April 17

P.W. Moore Elementary & J.C. Sawyer Elementary – Wednesday, April 18

Sheep-Harney Elementary & Weeksville Elementary – Thursday, April 19

A Make-up Registration Day for all schools will be held on Friday, April 20th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Parents who are interested should note that applications will not be processed without the five following items:

(1) Child’s Legal Birth Certificate (Certificate must have a seal)
(2) Child’s Social Security Card
(3) Child’s Immunization (shot) Record (must be up-to-date)
(4) Proof of Residence within the school attendance zone of the school at which you are registering (examples of proof of residence are a recent utility bill, phone bill, etc.- only original bills will be accepted; no copies)
(5) Verification of Income – 2006 W-2 forms or 2006 income tax documents (i.e. 1040 form or 1040 EZ form); no paycheck stubs will be accepted

Acceptance to the Pre-K Classes is based on the following criteria:

(1) MUST reside in the school’s attendance zone
(2) MUST be four years old on or before October 16, 2007
(3) MUST have an up-to-date record of immunizations (shots)
(4) MUST have a commitment by family to attend parent meetings and to provide the child with enriching activities at home.
(5) MUST meet the screening qualification. The screening will briefly assess the child’s development skills. All children registering will be screened.

ECPPS Kindergarten Registrations Announced for Spring 2007
Elementary Schools in the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School District are welcoming parents of rising Kindergartners to register their children for the 2007-2008 school year. To register, students must be five-years-old by October 16, 2007.

Elementary Schools have set various dates and times for Kindergarten Registration:

Sheep-Harney Elementary 335-4303

Tues-Thurs, May 1-3, 9 a.m.– 11 a.m.

Tues-Thurs, May 1-3, 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Fri., May 4, 9a–11a & 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Parents must bring the following items with them to register:

Child’s Legal Birth Certificate (Certificate must have a seal. The mother’s copy is not accepted)
Child’s Social Security Card
Child’s Immunization Record (shots)
Child’s Physical Form signed by the child’s doctor (Kindergarten Health Assessment)
Proof of Residence (such as an electric bill, phone bill, or lease agreement)

Acceptance into Kindergarten will be based on the following criteria:

MUST reside in the school’s attendance area
MUST be five-years-old on or before October 16, 2007
MUST have an up-to-date immunization record (shots)
MUST have a physical form/health assessment form from the child’s doctor

An important note for parents is that immunization records and Kindergarten Health Assessment forms cannot be accepted if they are not complete. After the child’s physical, parents are encouraged to review the health assessment form and make sure all areas of the form have been marked by the doctor, including the area on the form for a vision and hearing screening. These forms must be completely filled out and provided to the school no later than September 25, 2007 or by law, the child cannot attend school. The Health Assessment will be accepted if the child’s physical is done between last August 25, 2006 and this September 25, 2007.
