INTERNET
USERS AGREEMENT
The
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education believes that students in
our schools should be able to have the most current and complete
information for learning available. One way of providing this
information is through the Internet. The Internet serves as an
electronic link to the most up-to-date information and news from all
over the world. Each school on our district has the equipment necessary
to connect with the Internet. These connections will allow you to:
-
"look
up" topics in libraries thousands of miles away
-
Print
out additional information about topics being studied
-
Read
news in other cities
-
Talk
with others through electronic mail
Before
you can drive on the "information highway" there are certain
"rules of the road" that must be understood. They should be
read carefully. Ask questions if you don't understand something.
Once
the rules are understood, you should fill out and sing a form that will
allow you use of the Internet. Your signature means that all rules are
understood and will be followed.
NOTE:
Any student/user who breaks the rules will immediately lose some or all
access to the Internet. There may also be other disciplinary actions.
INTERNET
"RULES OF THE ROAD"
PROPER
USE
The
Internet is a resource to support teaching and learning. Any other use
is NOT allowed.
PRIVILEGE
Use
of the Internet is a privilege, not a right. This means that each
student should talk with a teacher to determine proper use of the
Internet. A school's principal will have the final say in what uses are
allowed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Students
who use the Internet should follow a "Code of Internet
Manners". They include:
-
Be
polite. Don't send insulting messages.
-
Watch
the language. No cursing or rude langange.
-
Make
proper use. Stay away from improper or forbidden activities.
-
Keep
private. Don't release addresses or phone numbers
-
Keep
your identity. Don't log on as another user nor let someone log on
as you.
-
Keep
it legal. Don't send material, which breaks the law.
-
Make
good choices. Don't use to sell items or for any other purpose not
approved by the school.
-
Be
responsible. Any damage (viruses, hacking, tampering, etc.) will be
paid for by the user.
-
No
sharing. Keep access information private
-
Provide
Current data. Users may need to update information about themselves
at the school.
-
NO
inappropriate sites (Pornography and violent sites are not allowed).
All
Students must complete and have in their agenda at all times the Student
Application For Internet Access, if you have lost your agenda or have
misplaced the page (page 14) you may print it out here, get it signed
and staple it into your agenda or carry it with you.
