Central Elementary School | Classroom Corner | Fifth Grade | Ms. Campbell
Hello again to fifth grade parents, guardians, and families, I am excited and saddened at the same time as my time with your students has come to an end. I am excited that I am this much closer to completing my education and that I still have four weeks to pop into the fifth grade wing and do an occasional activity, but I’m saddened to move away from this group of students as I begin observations of other grade levels and schools. As I shared during my first weeks, it has been a joy to work with your students. Through these weeks I have gotten to impress the students with my football and basketball skills (they really don’t think we were ever children), some of my artistic abilities, and some of my infamous dance moves. I have had the opportunity to work with some at the Fall Festival and dance with some at the first dance of the year. I am sure my athletic skills made a bigger impression than did my dancing! On the serious side- in the classroom I had the opportunity to journey with them through the American Revolution, the writing of the U.S. Constitution, Ben Franklin’s life, Eloise Greenfield’s young life, and even through our own young lives. I watched as these young people worked diligently on their presentations for the Social Studies Fair, which were a great success. And as they took every opportunity to pass AR quizzes in order to get Mr. Hawkins to do something not many men (or women) are willing to do- eat dog food- all in the name of educational success! As I leave the fifth wing I will miss these young people; they really are a special group- respectful and caring- and you should be proud. Again, I thank you for giving me this opportunity with your students; it was fun and educational for me, as I hope it was for them.
