Whenever there is
a forecast of severe weather, our transportation staff, local emergency
9-1-1 officials, and the Superintendent work together to monitor the situation.
Road conditions
are checked,
many times at 3 and 4 a.m. and the district essential personnel stay
in constant contact with the Pasquotank Sheriff's Department, as well
as follow information from the weather bureau and local media.
The decision for a
delay or closing is not made hastily nor by one person. It is a collective
process each and every time. Before the school day begins, whatever the
decision is, will be made no later than 6 a.m. The school district staff
contacts the local media as soon as possible regarding delays or closings
to keep you well informed.

Code One
All schools are closed. 11- and 12-month employees should report to
work, take appropriate leave, or make alternative arrangements with
their immediate supervisor(s). 10-month employees are encouraged to
take annual leave or make alternative arrangements with their immediate
supervisor(s). Employees and students will be notified as to when this
day will be made up.
Code Two
Due to existing and/or anticipated weather conditions all schools are
closed. We strongly recommend that ALL employees take appropriate leave.
It is the responsibility of an employee to make alternative arrangements
with their immediate supervisor(s). Employees and students will be notified
as to when this day will be made up.
Code Three
Due to existing and/or anticipated weather conditions, the opening of
schools and offices will be delayed one hour. *Essential personnel should
report as soon as conditions permit. Employees should monitor media
outlets for any changes in status. NOTE: Cafeteria Managers and Workers
should report at the regularly scheduled time.
Code Four
Due to existing and/or anticipated weather conditions, the opening of
schools and offices will be delayed two hours. *Essential personnel
should report as soon as conditions permit. Employees should monitor
media outlets for any changes in status. NOTE: Cafeteria Managers and
Workers should report at the regularly scheduled time.
Code Five
All schools and offices are closed. All employees should stay home.
A change in the school calendar will be made to establish this as a
holiday. Changes will be announced in the near future.

- Announcements regarding
hazardous weather status will be made over Adelphia Cable's Educational
Access Channel (Ch. 8) and the following radio and television stations:
WGAI-AM (560), WCNC-AM (1240), WGPS-FM (88.3), WRVS-FM (89.9), WOBR-FM
(95.4), WVOD-FM (99.1), WERX-FM (102.4), WCXL-FM (104.1), WRSF-FM
